Fuel Line - Female Connector

Order 3/8" female line connectors and they will not fit on the male on my 68 55HP. What connector fits this motor?

Also, I plan to use the plastic tie straps as clamps at each end of this fuel line. Is this acceptable?

Buy the connector from your Evinrude dealer. I just bought mine (less than $10) and it also came with a plastic clamp to connect to the fuel line. Zip ties might not be tight enough and might introduce an air leak.

there are 3 or 4 connectors that look just a like, they are for different brands motors. suzuki is one of them, and it will go on but leaks. you need a johnson/evinrude.

Somebody correct me if I am wrong, but it is my understanding that the OMC fuel connectors are all the same size where they plug onto the motor. It is the hose that comes in two sizes, so the connectors come with two different size hose barbs. You can use the 3/8 hose assembly on smaller motors, just can't use the 5/16 on big motors because they won't pass enough gallons per hour.

Yes, there are look-alike connectors for other brands like Yamaha, which do not fit OMC products.

you are correct. all the J/E connectors are alike.

Just to let you know that you can pick out the old o-rings and install new ones in those fuel connectors.

I purchased J/E 3/8 connector from iboats. It aint it! It fits my connector on the tank (tank is new), but doesnt fit engine connection (diameter is too small). I dont see option of larger size connector....

My 1967 60HP evinrude has the large fitting, my evinrude fisherman has the small fitting so there are two different connectors for evinrude outboards and they will not interchange. I don't care what size the hose is the engine couplers are different. Older evinrudes with pressurized tanks have yet another type connector that won't fit your motor.
