I bought my first 1959 golden jubilee last night! It came with a duel line pressure Tank. Thr runner hoses desperately need replaced. Are these fuel lines specialized or can I get any line at parts store?
It is available at many boat shops.----Available online as well.-----Beware of cheap stuff.----About $5 / ft for good stuff.-----But do a complete evaluation of this motor before spending any beer tokens on parts.----Inspect coils through hole in flywheel..------Inspect thermostat as they are often missing or stuck open.-----Check lower unit for water.----Install new impeller before your first fishing trip.
Fantastic find! You've got a great starting point. I'd replace points, condensers, coils plugs and clean the carb and replace the impeller and it should be as good as new.
Very nice and clean motor !! A rare long legger as well, not many 20" transoms back in those days. As a young lad, I was getting into boating when that was made. Thanks for the pics
I'd replace the coils and condensers and reuse the existing points if they are not pitted. Use a point file and/or fine grit sandpaper to dress them and clean with acetone or spray carb cleaner. The new points I've seen lately are of poor quality compared to the old ones, so I've been "refurbing" the old ones and having good results. From the looks of that motor, those points are probably in good shape.
since they have no side cover plates to tap into to get a pressure pulse you must use the air pressure nipple and change the side connector to a single line one... best to find one before starting any mods !!! .
a small Mikuni B&S pump works well... yet some have reported problems with the round ones so to be safe mount the square mikouni instead.
