Fuel line, fuel filter and pulse line?

I just did the conversion from the VRO fuel pump to a non-VRO and I am in the process of replacing ALL of my fuel lines.

With that said I have a "NAPA" in line filter on the fuel line coming from my portable 12 gal tank just in front of the pump bulb. Do I need another filter in line up near the carbs before it gets to the fuel pump?

I currently have 3/8" fuel line that I also got at NAPA that comes from my fuel tank. I just built it my self and put a pump bulb in line. Do I need marine grade fuel line here or is the standard fuel line ok? I just bought 6' of 3/8" marine fuel line and it ran me about $4 a foot..OUCH!!

My last question is about the size of line coming from my engine to the fuel pump for vaccum pressure. It had a 3/8" line and I was wondering if I put a 5/16" line there instead would it work or do I need to stick with the 3/8"..

Thanks in advance for any info..Hank

Not sure what motor you have, but my 70 uses a 5/16 line from the pulse fitting to the fuel pump. You will want to use marine-rated fuel line anywhere that is out the in sun or weather. I have an external filter too, so when I re-did my fuel lines I eliminated the internal filter.

Its very IMPORTANT you install a marine grade supply lines since fuel is suck or vacuum through the line (not pressurize by a pump) and the correct size of line per your manual, An Outboard will pretend to run perfect with fuel restriction and then self destruct itself..

Thanks for the replies. I will stick with the marine grade fuel line and do it right so I don't have to re-do it later. Thanks again..Hank
