Fuel line problem

Hello, I've got a 57 fastwin 18hp evinrude with the pressurized fuel system. I have noticed that when I connect the fuel line to the motor the female connector from the gas tank does not fit flush against the male connector on the motor. It is angled up just slightly which has me wondering if this could affect the tank pressure which in turn would affect the fuel flow to my motor?
Thanks

Re: Fuel line problem

If the tank is holding pressure and the connector is not leaking, should be OK. If you look at the end of the connector, close, you will see an oring in each side. This is what seals the female connector to the male connector. They are replaceable if they ever start leaking.

Re: Fuel line problem

I replaced them last just before I put the motor up for the winter becuase it looked like it might leak. But it still doesn't fit flush. I'll check it out . If it does leak is there anything I can do short of replacing it? I have priced them and just the fuel line side connector runs at about $75.00's.
Thanks

Check the male end on the engine from time to time. Sometimes they can get burrs on them that cut the orings causing leaks. As long as the connector will go on far enough for the retainer clip to snap in, you should be OK.

Ok, I'll check that. I have a question. I was at my local marine supplier (Arts Marine) and got to thinking ,which is dangerous. If I were to buy 2 male and 2 female fuel line connectors that were the correct size for my fuel lines, then split my duel fuel line enough so I could hook the exaust line to the tank to one and the fuel in to the other. That would effectivly do away with the duel fuel line connector and would make it so ifI had to replace one or both it would not cost that much. Right now the cheapest duel fuel line connector I can find is $75's.
What do you all think. Would this work, if I needed to replace my current connector?

Easy now.
These connectors do not go bad.All the parts inside are replacable. The Seloc Volume one has a complete breakdown on the parts.Around here we can trade the leaking ones in and for an extra $12 get a good revamped one. There should be some old timer around where you live who does the same.
There are always a bunch for sale on ebay, usually for less than $20.I got one for $6 a week or so ago.

Re: Fuel line problem

A loose fit, with a slight gap on the connector is normal. As was pointed out, the o-rings do the sealing. Don't remove the connector. That could prove very inconvenient for fueling, and could be a fire hazard.

Ok, I was just thinking out loud. I don't think my connector will leak. I pressurized the fuel tank last year after replacing the orings and it was holding fine.
Thanks
