"fuel" line problem?

i have an 86 merc115 there is a small line that runs under the coils and into the block via a brass nut.this line is leaking,what is this for and would it cuase the engine to die or starve at higher rpms? thankyou james when i moved it the engine also stalled

Sounds like a bleeder line to me. A ruptured bleed line could suck air and cause that cylinder to run lean and fry the piston. Run a compression check to make sure you are OK, and replace that line ASAP while being VERY careful not to snap off the brass barb it is attached to.

but there is fuel coming out of it it can still suck air?

do you premix? Is it a solid stream of fuel? or is it a dribble? At any rate, repair or replace the line and run a compression check.

James, Those inline motors have a small (3/32") rubber hose from the lower main bearing to the upper meain bearing. This serves as a fuel recirculation system. Replace the hose and inspect the check valves. The lower one is a one way (out) valve. The upper is simply a brass nipple.

BTW- This will not cause the issue you have cited.

thankyou, it does indeed seem to gotothe lowerbearing. for my other problem it seems to have resolved itself becuuse she now runs fine i may have had her overloaded. thankyou james
