Hi Guys,
I'm a total rookie, I have a 71 Merc 7.5 hp. I bought a used plastic fuel tank with the newer style Merc connection and a new fuel line with the old Merc motor connection on it. I cannot get any pressure in the bulb. Could it be a problem with the tank? No fuel is leaking from anywhere when I am pumping the bulb... Help please!! Cheers.

Re: Fuel Line Question

You might have a bad bulb if its not pumping at all, or the pick-up line is off in the tank.

Re: Fuel Line Question

The bulb has small arrows on it showing the direction the fuel should be going. Are they pointing towards the motor?

Re: Fuel Line Question

Point the arrow towards the motor line and point the arrow up when squezing (priming) the motor. Make sure the vent on the tank is open.

Re: Fuel Line Question

I found the culpret, I bought the fuel line new from Canadian Tire, it had these clamps on it that were not doing their job, I installed new hose clamps and it pumped up firm right away! Thanks for the help!
