LAst time we went fishing my friend somehow managed to get his lure to hit the fuel line before it meets the fuel water sperator . anyway we ended up with a pretty bad hole . i had to cut some of the fuel line back and got it back on the seperator that was ok with getting back to land . but my problem is that the line isnt quite long enough to reach the seperator
and when its on it has a bad kink! which im sure will cause me preoblems with time  is there a way to extend the line ? the fuel tank is built in i wouldnt have a clue on how i would replace the line. can i somehow just add a few inches with some kind of connection or is that a bad idea i dont have the money to have someone replace it for me
thanks

Re: fuel line question

I would replace the entire fuel line if you try to extend with a barb fastend by hose clamp, I personally think you are asking for potential trouble.

Re: fuel line question

darn thats kind of what i was thinking how are the build in tanks usually acessed? the only place i see that could possibly be an acess to it is the decn that us under my bench seat and my center console is it normal to have to remove everything like that to acess the tank and line? you would think there would be an acess somewhere to just replace the line
any advice is appreciated
thank you

If it's going to be a major problem to chang out that section of fuel line would it be easier to move your fiel/water separator a few inches?

Re: fuel line question

Use a barb and double clamp each side. There are barbs and T's that come factory. If it is as bad as some say here the factorys wouldn't do it.

Re: fuel line question

Since you are in saltwater make sure you get stainless steel clamps; I've used barbs and clamps for years on the MS coast and never had a problem.:)

Re: fuel line question

moving the fuel water separator is a good idea totally skipped my thaughts.
im going to see if i can make room for it in the battery compartment but i l kinda like where it is at since it is easily accessible to change out and i check it more often cause its easy.
but i may just move it if i find room too thanks for that idea
where do you guys recommend i buy the barbs clamps and fuel line in case i cant move the separator?
thanks to all of you this community is the best!!

Re: fuel line question

Large hp engine demands a 5/16" ID fuel line rather than the usual 1/4" ID lines as the small ID results in a restricted fuel flow of sorts.

However, this is not written in stone. I'd suggest that you extent the hose using a proper length of copper tubing. If you notice an immediate drop of power at full throttle, then you'll know at once that this was a mistake. If, on the other hand, full throttle power is normal..... bingo!

Re: fuel line question

You can try your Evinrude dlr or any marine dlr. West Marine may also be a local dlr for you. Only thing to remember is, If you use barbs make sure they are the proper ID for your mtrs fuel line size requirements.
