I just purchased a Johnson Model LD-10s. I think it is a 1965 or 1966 and it could possibly be a Sea horse. Although the motor is in excellent shape, the owner did not have the owners manual. Consequently, I have no idea what fuel mixture is appropriate for this engine. Any help you could provide would be GREATLY appreciated. :)

Great little motor. I just finished mine up with a new paint job and it looks as good as it runs.

I really like mine too. I think it needs a little tune up though. It runs pretty good until I open it up completely, then every once in a while, it acts like it doesn't get any gas just for a split second, then it runs fine again. There is no pattern to when it skips. I have tried dropping the speed back and it always stops.

Re: Sayin Hello and looking for a lil help

I am new here and have been following for awhile. and has been very helpful, for sure. I recently have gotten a dq 19 10hp. and have been going over it. Have replaced seals in lower unit and have replaced impellor. And am getting close to running it. I would like to know correct fuel oil fuel mixture, I have Seloc book and it doesnt say. Also, about changing to fuel pump, can you just use fuel pump with inlet and outlet, and disregard vaccum, and just plug , pulse line, would this work. Sure would apreciate any help here.

Hello and welcome. In the future, it will cause less confusion if you start a new thread instead of tacking onto an old one.

Your QD-19 is a 1958 and takes 24:1 mix. One pint of oil to 3 gallons of gas.

The pulse is what makes the pump work. It certainly won't work without it. It gets an alternating pressure/vacuum pulse each time the pistons go back and forth. That alternating pressure moves a diaphragm back and forth, which moves the fuel. If you do convert to a fuel pump, you will have to plug the existing pressure hose that was used to pressurize the tank.

Good luck with your restoration.
