Hi all I have a 9.8 1975 mercury what type of 2 stroke do you recommend and what is the correct ratio 20 to one or 50.to one thanks for your help.

I had a '74 7 1/2 that ran 50:1 so I would think yours would too. I think 50 pretty much became the standard back in the '60's.

Be sure that the oil you use is rated TC-W3. Many choices, not much difference except the full synthetics make less smoke and carbon.

10-4 on that and even the blends do a better job of smoke control. Quicksilver/Mercury and Pennzoil blends are readily available where I live. Don't personally have a place to buy full syn.
