I fixed up an old Evenrude 2hp motor for a fiend the other day and he asked about oil and mix ratio's...by the way it was made in 1947...so I showed him how to run it using some 16:1 chainsaw mix. I had and rocommended he buy some smallyworld tcw3 and mix at 8oz to the gallon...I know that will work, but what is the proper mix for that motor. By the way the motor has been in service since it was new...and the folks that used it mixed used motor oil in varying ratios. The new owner just wants the facts...what should I tell him

Re: Fuel mixture ?

That motor uses 24:1 mix and chain saw oil mix isn't good for it.
The old way for mixing was 1 quart of 30 weight oil non detergent to six gal of gas.
Wally world sells TCW-3 oil that will work good.
If they have mixed used motor oil with it and used I would de-carbon it and mix the right oil for it.
This will help
web page
