Fuel not Getting to Filter

This may have been covered but i figured i would post my problem.

So I have a 1997 Four Wins 200 Horizon with a 5.7L Multiport Fuel Injection.

I took the boat out yesterday and it ran great for about an hour or so. We stopped in the water to play for a few hours and the boat wouldnt start back up.

When I turn the key on i hear the fuel pump that sits on top of the Fuel/Water seperator come on. I did have a clear fuel filter inline before the fuel/water seperator and it never filled with fuel.

I removed the fuel line that goes to the tank and i was able to suck up some fuel, so i dont think there is a blockage in the tank pickup.

I removed the fuel line that goes to the fuel/water seperator and I dont really feel a whole lot of suction but there is some. I am not sure how much suction i should actually feel.

So could the fuel pump go bad just like that?

If it is bad can i get one at the local auto parts store? Does anybody know the part number for one at the auto parts store?

P.S attached is what my pump looks like.

Thanks.

Chuck..

Re: Fuel not Getting to Filter

Thanks Don S for the reply but all those steps require the boat to run. My boat wont start at all. So I really cant perform those tests to find my problem.

Question? Would Vapor Lock cause the fuel pump to NOT suck fuel from the tank in to the filter/separator?

Not if the engine hasn't been run for a while. It's not that hot in the engine compartment of an engine that doesn't run.

I would suggest you go up to the Adults only sticky, download manual #17 and start troubleshooting.
Here is the link to the manuals. http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=251571
A hit and miss, replace this, try that will take a lot of time and cost a lot of money in parts that are not needed. There are just too many steps in checking the fuel injection systems to post step by step for each different one.
