I read Chinewalker's guide in the FAQ, but had some questions. He stated that "Some who know their motors might lean them out a bit." What signs would one be looking for? The previous owner of my motor (77 Evinrude 25) ran it at 32:1 on the premise that too much oil is better than too little. Should I stick with that? Or go to 50:1?

Re: fuel/oil questions

Chinewalker may have been referring to someone who had rebuilt their motor and knew what they had. 50:1 for your engine is fine. At one time OMC even suggested running 100:1, but found that there was not enough oil after shutdown to protect the cylinder walls. They then recanted and moved the recommendation back to 50:1 some time ago.
