My 20 yr old gas tanks' pick up has rotted and gone to pieces.

Just the p/u from Boats Inc in G'boro is $35 and a new tank is $47.

Can someone point me to a wholesale supplier or a tank warehouse for the part?

If it's not worth it, let me know. (I can take it!)

Thanx

ole John

it's the lil tube that hangs straight to the bottom of the tank--underneath where the gas line attaches going to the motor--maybe 8", including the filter (it was not rotted)

The zip tie that held the tube in place is still there. The gage float attaches about an inch away to the same flange that screws to the top of the tank.

I'll continue to google for the part #, but have only found places that only carry entire tanks.

I'll try and post a pic tomorrow.

Thanks

Yup, I just used a $.75 piece of fuel line hose and a hose clamp.

If you use a piece of hose, add a weight on the end to keep it on the bottom of the tank. Without something to hold it down the hose may eventually curl up and not suck fuel.

good point--a lead weight or stainless?

I wonder if a lawn mower filter would add enuf weight as well as be decent filter????

I didn't put on a filter or a weight. That hose is pretty stiff when only 6-7 inches long. I sold the boat the next summer but didn't have any problems at all for the summer I used it. If I had to do it over again I would have made the hose a little longer so it bent over a bit at the bottom of the tank and wedged in there a bit. Then again maybe that would be more likely to pick up crud from the bottom of the tank. Mine came about 1/4 inch short of the bottom.

If you want a filter add an inline somewhere outside the tank so you can to it easier.
