Hi everyone

I have a 1980 115hp johnson. I rebuilt both carbyes with a carby kit and replaced the main fuel lines. since doing this the electric fuel primer (engaged when pushing the key in) only clicks. It doesnt pump ast all.

I checked for crimped fuel lines or something that been disconnected but everything apears fine.

any suggestions?

ethan

The lever on the primer solenoid pump should be lined up with the solenoid cylinder. (I don't know in what direction yours is mounted.)

Re: fuel primer on 1980 115

Couple things to look at, take a primer hose off one of the carb, turn the manual lever counterclock wise about a half turn (this is the manual position) and squeeze the primer bulb. You should have fuel squirting out the primer hose.

Put the primer hose back to the run position and crank the engine with the key pushed in, you should see fuel spurting out the primer hose.

If either test fails, you may have a problem with the rubber valve in the solenoid. The original valve and gasket came as two pieces and where made of the older black rubber. Todays replacements are viton rubber and are one piece.

Try both test first and see what you have....and your sure the solenoid is clicking when the key is pushed in?
