I dont think im thinking of the same thing you are. this besides a shutoff valve and a breather tube running to the side of the boat, this is the only other connector in the fuel line.

if you are replacing the tank then no need to worry about the syphon valve..most new tanks will come with...if not you can get another..

Since the feul was that crappy I would consider clearing the lines you have or maybe consider running new one..if you do run new and use rubber...make sure you get the newer ethenol safe lines.. since the new gas has ethanol, a lot of loder rubber lines are deteriorating fast...

That fiitinh you showed is the gas connector.. the thing I was reffereing to is at athe tank outlet..the line that goes from the tank out to the engine.

my merc didnt have the connector you showed...my line went from the tank to a feul seperator and into the engine..

Ive removed the leaky tank and sprayed out the fuel if that what your referring to.

Well I was just curious if the gas will affect the fiberglass at all, as I have spilled some fuel on the carpet and wasnt sure if I got it all cleaned off or not.

feul is a solvent and will weaken the glue that holds the carpet... as far as the fiberglass..while it may stain..you shuldnt see any major issues with it.

If you are that concerened.. some soap and water will take care of it..

If the carpet has bubbled up a bit.. then let it dry... cut a slit in the center of the bubble... apply some spray tack glue..and push the pieces back down..

the only connector between the tank and the engine is a shutoff valve hooked to the square connector coming out of the top of the tank and the connector shown in the picture i linked. i could probablr eliminated that connector shown in the picture. I also do not have a seperator, should i get one of those and where do you install it?

the problem besides a leaky fuel tank was the connector i was using was the wrong one and allowing air into the system. currently running a removable tank until i can find a permanent one.

You should use a feul seperator for good measure ... it goes between the tank and the engine... it looks just like an oil filter.. catches and seperates any water that may get picked up.

Glad you found the connector issue.. they are not too expensive so you are making headway! good for you.
