Fuel Problems Under Load vs. NOT under load? - HOW?

Just a general question here due to my last post and reading some others...

How is it that if there is a fuel delivery problem, (like trash in the carb or trash in the fuel pickup in the tank, etc), it can only be felt/seen while under load?

It seems like the problem would present itself while running on muffs or in neutral as well as while under load if there were a fuel restriction going on.

Just trying to educate myself some more and not understanding this.

The demand for fuel increases as the load increases.....
Vacuum.....

Howt pretty much summed it up- takes more fuel to turn the same rpm's under load as not under load.

Ah. I was thinking that when it comes to fuel delivery, high RPMs were high RPMs, no matter what the load is/was.

Nope....You have a throttle, the farther it is opened, the more air that gets in, thus more fuel is needed.

Are you having this problem. Take your fuel filter off and poor it into glass and see if there water in the fuel. That were I would start.
