I think my motor is running too rich. If you don't recognize me from the many previous posts I have an '87 28hp rude.
Symptoms Starts OK but then dies out. Needs to warm a little the it runs ok. Sputters once or twice in WOT. Dies the first few times I put it into gear. I checked the new plugs and they are wet with oil and black. Also the lower cover for the motor has new oil in it from me running it.
I changed the gas recently and put in a 50 to 1 ratio of gas/oil.
Also I noticed the little o-ring on the gas connector that attaches to the motor is missing. This might add to the problem but I wouldn't think it would make it run rich.
Tried to adjust the needle valve a little and it ran a little better.
Any help?
I am gonna check to make sure both of the sparks are working here shortly.

Thanks

Going on a trip on Thursday and I need to get this baby going!

Re: Fuel problems?

When it starts to sputter, tap the choke. If it speeds up....you need to degunk, decarb, replace filters, ect. then adjust idle screws....Missing O ring means your sucking air...fix that before you try the aforementioned.
