I have recently inherited a '77 1150 that did start in fall but has not really been run since summer 2004. I'm wondering if it makes sense to proactively rebuild the fuel pump or not. If I do, do I need to resynchronize everything or is that not necessary? Do I just need to order the diaghram kit ore are there other parts that should be replaced? Is there any other proactive things I should do before spring?

Re: fuel pump 1150

It may have more than one pump. I'm not sure when they converted to a single. But yes, rebuild. Diaphragms dry out and can fail shortly after the motor is returned to service. Check valves usually are okay, so the pump/gasket kit is all you should need. Do the water pump too. Change the gearlube and sparkplugs would also be a good idea. Resyncing probably isn't necessary.

Right - but check that the MAX advance is 21 degrees. More can kill it.

-W
