My father has a 1985 60hp 2 cyl Evinrude. Model: E60 TLCO. We're needing a fuel pump kit to replace a broken diaphragm. The pump itself has the number 174246 and 4 BK B on it. I haven't been able to identify which kit fits it by using several charts on-line by parts dealers.
When you call them, they say they either can't determine it and I have gotten 3 different numbers (None match!) My closest marine dealer is 60 miles away and is kinda small.
Does anyone have access to info to determine which kit to order? 2 places agreed on OE p# 398514 which is the same as aftermarket 10-1641, but I'm not sure!
It has dual diaphragms. We'd sure appreciate any help. Thanks

B.J.

Re: Fuel Pump kit

Hey Jim,

Got a # 398514 sent in and it was wrong! My pump has a cup-shaped diaphragm on each side and the kit didn't have anything like that. The pump has a number 174246 printed on it. Is that a part number?
The serial number on the motor is: G1047996
Model # is: E60 TLCO.
I know the guy who bought it new and the pump has not been changed out or ?....
Any ideas how to proceed?
Thanks,

B.J.

Re: Fuel Pump kit

Go to your neighborhood NAPA Dealer. He can get parts for it. Take the old diaphragm with you a tell him to replace it. That way, if it doesn't fit, it's hiz.

c/6

Hooty

Re: Fuel Pump kit

Wow Hooty!!! That's simple enough. My Dad took the pump to "Jimmy Houston Marine" in Broken Arrow, OK today. They told him they didn't make a kit for that pump anymore. He did buy a non-VRO pump for $151 to replace the old one, so he will get back on the water. I'm still going to NAPA and try to get the diaphragms though (just outta pure ol' stubbornness!!!!!) This is getting scary when you can't get parts for an 1985 Evinrude!

Thank all of you for answering!

Poor Ol' BJ
