I have a second 7.5 HP Johnson 1983 that I was working on earlier this winter and I finally got time to test it this afternoon.

First problem, when I squeezed the primer bulb gas leaked out the fuel pump in the middle section. What should I do? Buy a repair kit or a whole fuel pump here on Iboat?
I tryed to open it and see if it was a bad gasket but it still did the same thing once reinstalled. I have a factory manual for 2 thru 8 HP outboarbs but it doesn't show much fuel pump work.

The motor had a new head gasket, new carb kit and worked very good for 2-3 minutes once I got gas in the carb.

Finally today I went to a outboard parts supplier and bought a repair kit. It was so simple to do and now the motor runs very good, idles like a champ!

Thanks to this forum because even in my factory manual, they don't show how to fix them.
