Hello every one once again. My fuel pump has a crack, my motor is a 100 HP 1979 Evinrude. When I look up for parts number, it would take me to the section where all the fuel pump are, with the part number. but when I read on the description of the item, all of them only said for motor up to 55 HP. even with the number I pulled out from the cat. can some one tells me is there a different between 55 HP to a 100 HP fuel pump? Thank you all in advance

Original factory part number 388268 supercedes about 5 times to Bombardier part number 438556-currently in stock.

????------Why not simply order a fuel pump for a 1992 88 hp model.------------This crossflow family of motors remained unchanged for many years as far as the working of the fuel pump !--------Look this up on-------- shop.evinrude.com--------Or other websites.----It should be easy to solve this !----That 88 hp pump from 1992 will fit from 1979 to 1998 motors and motors from 20 hp up to 115 hp that is how common these pumps and the operation of them is.

Thank you. Mr Racerone for your info.I was afraid that 20 HP to 100 HP will put out different amount of fuel , I just want to hear from some one that's common, so I can order me one. Once again thank you all very much

A lot of these fuel pumps look similar. That's the problem. Make sure you get the exact/correct one so that it supplies the volume of fuel that your engine requires.
I doubt a 55 hp one is the correct one. The factory makes a fuel pump repair kit for a 55-75 hp engine. That's a 3 cylinder model. Again, that particular one is not the correct one.

Take the time to visit ---marineengine.com--------Step 1 is to look up the part # for a 1992 88 hp motor.-Step 2 is to click on that part # and then scroll down to see what motors also use that part #--There will be a long list in this case.-----Motors from 1998 to 1980 are shown.-----Now most folks know that a 1979 V-4 OMC is very similar or the same as a 1980 model !!!

There are two types of pumps used on the various 1979 outboards models. A few have a separate hose barb for the pulse line, like the 3-cylinder 70/75 (and V6) and the rest, including the 100 hp, are the type that bolt to the side of the block and draw the pulse thru a flat gasketed hole. While many of the original 1979 engines used different pump part numbers when shipped from the factory, racerone is correct that today, all the side-mount pumps supercede to 438556

Received the pump, put hoses on backward. Inlet to outlet. Try to start motor all day. Lol. Went back and check instruction, reversed hoses. Start like charm. Thanks all for the input and the help

For future reference. All these pumps are superceded by #438556:

433387
432451
398387
398338
395713
394543
388268
385781
382354

And probably more.

Fyi Sierra and Mallory also make replacement pumps. Part# 18-7352 & 9-35352 respectively. Lil cheaper than OEM.

Regardless. Glad you got her runnin. Ya it helps when the hoses are plumbed right ...
