I just was examining my engine (150 evinrude '88) and saw that the fuel pump power was disconnected (actually the power lines were cut). Why would the engine run when the power was not connected and would this affect my starting and power/efficency?

Mike

well, the fuel can go around the impeller on the motor.., your engine will probably run very lean. when you start your engine, do you prime it good? if you do that is why it starts

Outboard fuel pumps operate on crankcase pressure and vacuum pulses. Those wires that are cut were the "no-oil" alarm.

-John
