Hi all, 1996 130hp V4 Looper, model # J130TLEDM.

I have ordered a manual, but don't have it yet.

In the attached pics, can you tell me if I am correct about my VRO pump? It is no longer working, I mix.

Also, do I need to remove the "front" part on the fuel pump first, or just the larger of the two (which I have labeled Fuel Pump)?

Thanks so much.

'Is this the VRO pump?" is the fuel primer solenoid, and "Fuel Pump" in the pic is your VRO unit. Notice the little cap on the front of the VRO unit. This is where someone has blocked off the 'oil intake' on the VRO. You should be able to just unbolt that whole unit from the metal (brass or stainless steel) bracket attaching it to the power head. There should be 3 screws.

If you need and immediate diagram I can scan and send you a copy. I have the manual. OMC Part # 500612 ... this manual includes the J130TLER which is close enough for a point of reference.

If you would be so kind as to do that, it would be greatly appreciated! I prob won't get my manual for another 7-10 days.

Thanks again!

Your motor didn't come with a VRO pump. Don't call it that when talking to your parts guy, you may end up getting the wrong parts. That's an OMS pump which pumps a straight 50:1 (or so) oil raitio.

The pump comes as a complete unit, no need to seperate the oil side from the rest of it. Why are you changing it?

Re: Fuel Pump Problem/Replacement

Thanks DHadley, well, I was out last weekend, trolling for about an hour, when I went to take off again, she bogged, pretty hard. I shut it off and did some troubleshooting. Everything looked fine, but again when I took off it bogged. The next time it got ready to die, I started pumping the ball, which kept it running (got me home). I assumed at that point it was a fuel supply problem. When I got in, I found I had a small hole in my fuel filter, replaced it today, same problem. So I am assuming it is my fuel pump.

Am I on track?

Thanks again.
