fuel pump problem

Can someone tell me what kind of fuel pump is needed for a 1989 GT-150 Johnson. It has a automotive inline fuel pump on it know that has stopped working. is the inline pump wright for this motor or shoul it have a fuel pump located on the motor. I dont know anything about this boat. and I need help as to what kind of pump to replace it with. Any help you can give me will be a great help I dont want to just throw my money away.

What is the model no of the motor? Just guessing I would say the VRO went out and someone replaced it with an electric pump and you now have to mix oil in with your gas. Which by the way is very dangerous unless it has been rigged up to shut off if the motor stops running. Like I say this is a guess.
