I'm trying to rebuild this fuel pump but cant get the third check valve out. There is no access behind it to get leverage to press or tap it out. I've tried to get something in the fuel line hole but its not big enough and I risk damaging the threads. Advice?

Leave it in.

In 30+ years I have seen only 1 of these valves go bad.
It came apart and still functioned.
I was changing diaphragms(regular PM) and saw the valve in pieces.
The pump still worked with no problems??
I had a spare pump and used that instead.

1. If you have a new check valve in your rebuild kit for it, you have to get it out of there.
2. There's pliers at HF for this removal, can't think of the name, they open when you squeeze the handles.
3. You could reach in the center with a 90 degree angle or hook object and pull it out.
