After posting a question on keeping my motor running, I was suggested that the fuel pump might be damage and in need of rebuilt or replacement. I called NAPA and the kit I bought is too small, when going back to the store they said, they do not show a kit for a 66-18HP evinrude it is skipped on their catalogs. I then called the dealer and the guy said the kit is discontinued. So here is my question looking at the kit which I received the components were gaskets and a rubber diaphragm, I figure I can use a RTV Silicone for the gaskets or buy the cork sheets and make the gaskets, but I have no idea what to use or where to find the rubber sheet to make the diaphragm. Does any body have any input, suggestions or solutions to my problem? It will be greatly appreciated

Thanks Jose

Jose,

Be careful with RTV silicone, not all of 'em are fuel resistant, go to an autopart supplier and ask for fuel compatible sealant or gasket maker if you which to use that instead of cork.

Ciao ;)

Mario
