fuel pump testing?

I have a 1995 Johnson, 115hp, looped charged, 60 degree. Motor died, need to check the fuel pump but realized it's called a fuel module and vapor separator. I'm assuming the fuel pump is contained inside, manual does not give instructions for testing to determine if this is the cause. I have good compression, fuel lines are good, fuel filter is good, ,,, motor won't start. Any ideas?

Okay, great link,,,,I have a fuel issue, squirked fuel in the carbs and she started..so on my motor, does the whole 'fuel module' (which per the manual contains the vapor separator, vapor pump, vacuum switch, fule primer solenoid and fuel filter') all come in one assembly?

When were the carbs last rebuilt? Is this a new motor to you? What exactly is your starting procedure?

I'll check out the link,,,, meantime... this was a rebuild, got it 2 years ago, so no, haven't had carb problems since this, no way to know when or if they might have been rebuilt. Without a doubt, 'new motor'. Last one was a 115 Johnson, but older, 1988 I think and the fuel pump was it's own little identity! this is a newby to me....
Starting,,,, pump the bulb, turn key, push in to prime, hear the clicking, crank with a little throttle. Old motor didn't take this long to start, sometimes it takes several attempts. Starting battery a year old.

Notice any changes in the fuel primer bulb? Suck flat? Will pumping it pick the motor up a bit? Fresh fuel in tank?

Battery is charged,,,,,, so on the parts list, do I need to buy everything? If not, how do I know which parts to replace?

Dan, If you pump the fuel primer bulb will the motor continue to run? If so then one or both of your fuel pumps has a problem. That motor has the OMS (oil metering systems) pump and the vapor seperator pump. Look on the www.crowleymarine.com site and see if you can buy a "vapor pump kit". It should be fairly cheap, and should be your first attempt at a repair. You might also check the pulse limiter valve, which powers the OMS Pump. Maybe it is clogged.

When you use the primer to prime the motor, you are only filling the vapor seperator with straight gas. This gas is fed to the OMS, mixed with oil and pumped to the carbs.

Thanks Chris, haven't looked at the parts list yet, even without at least I have a place to start. To answer your question, the motor will run briefly while pumping the primer bulb then cut off.
