Fuel Pump - Wired Directly to Battery

I recently had a bout of fuel problems on the lake, and originally thought it was an electrical problem as it was intermittent. I took off the existing electrical connection from the fuel pump and wired straight from battery to the fuel pump with 12awg wire. Unhooked the steel line going to the carb and placed in a container to catch the fuel, however NO fuel was pumped. It did spark on the battery when I connected it, but reset all circuit breakers and all and still nothing. It's safe to assume my fuel pump was the culprit correct, as it should have pushed fuel out of the steel line?

Did the pump run?
Is there fuel in the tank?
Anti-syphon stuck closed?

The pump didn't pump anything, there is half a tank of fuel (~16 gallons) in the tank, and not sure about the anti-siphon.

You might want to connect to another source, of liquid, unless you didn't feel it spinning or making any sounds, I'd then say it's dead.... except, how is the ground connected, it could have a ground wire that goes through a Oil Pressure switch. ( sorry haven't played with elec pump boats much but know basics of them and how some have been connected)

did the pump make any type of running sound or just the spark when connected.
no sound at all = siezed pump
But if you have a carb you could have provided the fuel to get back by using a outboard priming bulb and a short section of hose to take the place of the elec. pump.

I didn't hear the pump make any sound, just the spark when connected to the battery, although the last time on the lake, it worked intermittently, felt extremely hot, and I could hear it, when it was actually turning, but it sounded louder than usual. I posted a previous question asking if these pumps die intermittently or not, but never got an answer.

Not sure about a ground going through oil pressure switch, not that I see on the schematic or fuel diagram, but regardless, I grounded straight to the battery terminal and checked with meter to make sure i was grounded good before hooking to pump.
