I was running my 1966 Mercury 110 (9.8hp) it ran fine last week and then it ran fine when I went out fishing last night, and then again across the lake but on the Way into the launch it wanted to run 30 seconds and quit I would then squeeze the Bulb and it would take very little to make it hard, the engine would start run another 30 seconds then die.. I couldn't' keep it running by squeezing the bulb.. Does this sound like a pump going bad or maybe a loose fuel connection??
Another
Another thing I wonder is the other day I had to stand the motor on the cover to get the lower unit back on and wonder if maybe some dirt carb didn't carb didn't loosen up and is floating around in there..

Re: Fuel Pump ??

i dont think it is a loose fuel line. i have a mariner 8hp and it will run on choke which makes me think the fuel pump but it dies after a few seconds when off of choke. outside of that it is the same, the bulb gets hard and will not revive it when pumped. i replaced the tank and fuel line. i just was wondering if the prolem is in the fuel pump or the needle.
