Have a 1978 volvo penta 280a. At end of season I noticed fuel being pushed into the tube that comes out of the fuel pump and up to the air filter. Does this mean that the fuel pump is going bad? Are fuel pumps designated Marine fuel pumps because of this tube? Thank you!

Re: fuel pump

Thanks for the reply, I will replace it pronto. Curious to know if there should have been a performance loss noticed if the pump is bad?

Re: fuel pump

If it just started, it MAY not be noticable at higher speeds, but at idle it would tend to flood the engine because of the excess fuel being put into the carb.
