fuel pump

i have a 97 mercruiser and the fuel pump wont shut off. i have replaced the ignition and it did not fix the problem. any ideas?

How about some engine info. 97 may be boat year but may not be engine year. Do you have a serial number? Is it a carbed or EFI, if EFI, is that TBI or MPI. Is it a V6, small block V8 of some sort, or maybe a Big block?

sorry here is more info boat is a 1997 searay 185 engine is a 1997 mercruiser 4.3 sn 0k157041 it is carbed
