fuel pump ???

03 40horse 4 stroke EFI. Can I pull the front plate off of this motors fuel
pump without springs going twang and little pieces scattering on the ground??
I have had the insides of the fuel line begin to come apart. Thank you EPA.

Jim;

Here is the parts breakdown of your pump which shows you where the springs are. You shouldn't have a problem.

Mercury & Mercruiser Parts, Fuel Pump, 30/40 EFI (3 CYL) 4-STROKE

If you are still unsure, let me know your s/n and I will see if I can get you the page from the service manual.

carholme, if you are still out there the serial no. Also it is a 4 CYL.
