Is your fuel pump completely broken? More than likely, your fuel pump diaphram is split. For about $12 bucks, you can buy a fuel pump rebuild kit, here on iboats and rebuild your fuel pump. When I rebuilt mine, it took about 15 minutes to replace the diaphram and the gaskets. I'm not sure about the part number, but look here (iboats.com), outboardparts.com and mercruiserparts.com to find the appropriate part numbers for you outboard. You can buy the kit from any of those sellers, but I got mine on iboats.com and they were an excellent seller.

i replaced the diaphram with a new one i did the whole fuel pump kit. but the motor still bogs at wot i was told to just replace the whole pump.

Have you checked all of your lines for leaks/blockages? Otherwise, check iboats, mercruiserparts.com, outboardparts.com, ebay, or if your in the Atlanta area, there is a great salvage yard in Dawsonville, I know they have tons of used fuel pumps. PM me if your in the area & I'll give you the name of the place.

Entire fuel pump is $150 bucks. Chances are if it is the fuel pump you just need to change the check valves or the check valve gaskets. valves are 5 bucks each part number is 21-F177330 the gaskets are fifty cents each
part number 27-F84792. You will need three of each. The valves are press fit into the pump and can be removed using a deep socket.

eurolarva, Can be removed with a deep socket, or replaced with a deep socket? How do you remove them? I think mine might be bad?

The middle one is easy. There is a screw holding it in place. It has been like 4 years since I did mine so my memory is not that great. One of them you will mangle getting out. I bought four just to be safe. I used a screw driver and a hammer to get it out and then a deep socket like a 1/2 inch to put it back in. Funny thing is the sierra pump kit has three small gaskets for these check valves but they are too large and wont work. That is why you need to order the gaskets from Mercury. The quick silver ones fit much better. When I had mine apart I could see one of them had a torn gasket on one of the press fit check valves. Parts will run you about 20 bucks which is a lot cheaper then the pump. Chances are pretty good it is not the pump giving you grief so hopefully this will either fix your problem or if it dont it wont break the bank.

Thanks for the info eurolarva. When I replaced the diaphram a week or so ago, everything looked fine inside the pump, but I noticed that if I blew into the vacuum line on the left side of the pump, it would let some air through, in the direction it is supposed to seal? I thought this a bit odd. Of course it worked freely in the vacuum direction. When I did this on the other 2 valves, they also did the same thing? I doubt that my blowing into them is stronger then gas being pumped, So, I don't know if they are supposed to let some pressure thru in the opposite direction, or if they're bad? As it so happens I have it apart right now again at this time, confirming what I found. As I am still plagued by the stalling going into gear, and the motor appearing to be loading up.

Air is less dense then gas. Gas might not get past those check valves as easy. Most fuel pump related issues I have seen here on Iboats has been at full throttle or at least cruising. I would be more suspect of the idle circuits in the carburators. Have you had them apart and cleaned?

Yes, They all started out in clean pristine shape as it was and all jets, & vents, are squirting out carb cleaner good, including the 3 individual idle ports.

that sounds like a idea that might work and if it doesn't it can't hurt. you never said where you ordered your parts from?
