fuel restriction

I have an '89 gt200. I am getting a fuel restriction alarm after running WOT for a short while. I have checked all my fittings and can find nothing wrong.

My question is this, I have added a water separating filter and kept the inline filter that was already in place under the cowling. Do I need both? Would this be the cause of the restriction?

If not I need Ideas of where to start to get rid of this alarm.

Thank you.

Re: fuel restriction

The fuel restriction alarm and the overheat alarm are exactly the same constant horn.

The filters are redundant but the larger water separating filters actually place less restriction and are more necessary with today's fuels.

BTW, the anti-siphon valves are often part of these problems, especially the older ones.

Re: fuel restriction

I am sure the alarm is a fuel restriction. It goes off just as soon as I let up on the throttle. I even pulled the cowling after getting this alarm and touched the heads to check for overheat and they were warm but not hot.

I will check the anti-siphon valves.

Thanks
