Fuel sender float MIA

Decided to pull the floor and see why the fuel gauge quit working. Ground is good and shorting the wires pegs the gauge, so good there. Pulled the sender out and the float arm is MIA. I can hear it banging the tank if I shake the boat, but it's way up front. Any suggestions to get it out? I assume there's baffles etc in there. If I leave it in, what's the chance it'll interfere with the new one? I hate not having a fuel gauge.

Not much of an odd maker here, but if the old one does get tangled with your new on, at least you will have a handle on the old one to get it out.

Hard to say on the interference question. Baffles depends upon size of tank, usage, and mfgr. I agree that you want to know how much fuel you have.

If you decide to go after it, remember you are dealing with gasoline and take the appropriate precautions like avoiding sparks, a well ventilated work space and such.

Good luck.

LOL! Good idea though, will probably stick with that route.
