I have a 1988 Bayliner capri with 85hp outboard engine - the fuel sender unit is faulty - (1) is it easy to replace - with little room to work in ?? (2) is it possible to fit an in line fuel / flow meter.
Grateful for all replies -- thanks Eddie

Re: fuel sender unit

Welcome to iboats!

As you will see if you do a search in the Electrical, Electronics, Audio, and Trolling Motor area, before you condemn the sending unit, you should completely diagnose the fuel gauge circuitry. Here is a thread on the subject, which includes a generic wiring diagram.

If you determine that the sender is in fact bad, replacement is not too bad as long as you don't mind laying on your belly and working with your arms in front of you.

I mounted a fuel filter/water separator on the starboard side of of the splashwell. Just be sure the motor clears when it's turned fully both ways.
