How many of you are feeling the pain of not being able to get fuel? I know gas prices are up but stations around her either don't have any gas or people look really pissed when boats pull up in an attempt to fuel up. I was already run off from one station.

Re: Fuel Shortage

we went from Jacksonville to Homassa Springs, to pick up a boat today. on return trip we were going to fuel at a small town, before a 12 mile stretch thru the woods. they were out of fuel, so we ventured on, about 9 miles we ran out of gas. luckily the first vehicle i waved down, was a construction company, he had a 5 gallon can on his truck. we just knew we had a 3 mile walk.

Where do you live rrhodes? I'm in Indiana and have no problems getting gas. I filled the boat up tonight actually.

I'm taking a trip to Knoxville, TN next week and I've heard that gas can be hard to find around Nashville....

Sorry I forgot that I did not have it in my profile. I am in Columbia, South Carolina. Seems to be a South Eastern problem.

Re: Fuel Shortage

Gas is nonexistent in North Metro Atlanta. I'm not kidding. Every now and then when a station gets gas, it causes a major trafic jam. I'm going out tonight (tomorrow morning actually) at about 2 am and hope I catch a station getting a delivery. If not, I'm using the last of my gas in my truck to go to the lake where my boat is and siphoning 30 or 40 gallons out of my boat (it has a 150 gallon tank) for use in my vehicles next week.

Re: Fuel Shortage

Ditto what bum said for Georgia. On my route to work I pass about 20 or so gas stations. Friday there were only two of them that had gas, each with a long line down the road. I got lucky though, as I live somewhat out in the sticks, and went by a little mom-n-pop station close to where I live that had just gotten a delivery. Now I can get to work through Thursday, and hope like heck that we get more gas before then. (I'm also nervous about all the delivery companies, truck lines etc. that my employer depends on to keep us going keeping fuel in their trucks.)

I read that part of the reason we're having shortages here is that we have to use low sulfer fuel because of our smog problem, and apparently the refineries that make that aren't back online yet. Our governor took his sweet time asking for a waiver on the low sulfur fuel, but once the EPA received the request the waiver was granted quickly. SO... hopefully things should be getting better soon.

I had originally planned to take my son out in the boat this weekend, but that's not going to happen.

Re: Fuel Shortage

I live in a NW Atlanta suburb. Wife's fuel light came on on the way home, and she coasted in on fumes. I had to go out on a gas run. Took me 30 min to find a station with gas, then had to wait around 30 min, out in traffic.

Filled up my dual tanks on my F150, and 15 gal worth of gas in portable tanks for the wife. I got a few looks from people. It was $162 worth, that's a record for me.

I passed 5 people (I counted) on the way home on the side of the road w/ their 4-way's on - they ran out of gas looking for it. I would've donated some of what I had, but the cars where abandoned.

Wife and I both drive 20 miles to work, in different directions. Neither of us pass a station with gas lately. We canceled our weekend plans for fear of not having any gas left to get to work Monday.

Re: Fuel Shortage

As far as the price, It has dropped. The problem is we can't find any. One of the guys that works for me called in the last 2 days becasue he is out and commutes from Charlotte NC.

Luckily my Suburban will run on E85 and I can still get that at 2 stations. At least for now I can. The wife can go a week on a full tank so she stops anytime she sees gas and tops off. Although it has kept the SeaCat parked and the pontoon dry.

Re: Fuel Shortage

I just made a trip to Florida from Missouri and through southern Arkansas and Mississippi I encountered several gas stations that appeared to be out of gas. I finally had to ask the clerk how close the next station was that had gas when I got pulled into a station in southern Mississippi. I was on E and was past getting nervous. She said that they weren't out of gas but they shut the pumps down till midnight while they negotiated gas prices down with the suppliers. She said other wise they would have had to sell it for 5 bucks a gallon and they didn't want to pas that on to their costumers. She then told me the wall mart was still selling it 3 miles down the road for $3.93.

Re: Fuel Shortage

Went out at 4:30 this morning, found gas and surprisingly long lines (north metro atlanta, the QT on 141 just north of Spalding Drive, if you're looking). Ditto on the bone head move by Gov Purdue waiting too long to ask the EPA for a temporary lifting of EPA requirements.

Wow, up here in the "North" Long Island , NY to be exact, gas is relatively expensive, $3.69, but dropping. But no sign of a shortage you all are describing. I was completely unaware of the shortage and I consider myself an informed individual. It got a two second statement on one of the morning news shows.

I was explained that alot of the smaller gas stations cannot afford the thousands of up front money to purchase the gas in advance of getting paid for it and that money also gets tide up in credit card receipts and thus no funds to buy the next shipment until the credit clears.

Is it a shortage or financial logistics? Either way, sorry to here about it., I remember the gas shortages of the 70's and the odd/even rationing, scrambling for gas and it was not fun!!! Ike

Yes, I'm getting a bit tired of Sonny. Before this he didn't look too good in how he dealt with our water supply issues during the drought, and now that the drought is easing he seems to have forgotten all about that problem ('till it becomes a hot issue again). To steal a phrase from another campaign, it's time for change.

Our boats act as personal fuel tankers until this crap is over. Brasilton has fuel right off the 1 85 north exit for 3.69 a gallon.

Sheesh. I'd always thought Michigan gas taxes put our prices higher than most, but now maybe not. Saturday lowest regular near me was 3.54. According to gasbuddy, this morning it's 3.51.

Its 4.09 to 4.19 around here IF you can find it.
People are camping at gas stations all night just hoping the tanker truck will arrive!
When the fuel tanker does show up they call the cops out to direct traffic and keep people from fighting at the pumps.
The local news said this morning we could be looking at another week or two of this!
This is insane! Gas selling for just over 3 bucks in other parts of the country!

Looks like i will siphon gas out of the boat to mow the lawn this week..
