Hello, all experts

I have a questions. After I hit the bottom this weekend, I inspect lower unit and gearcase everything is in a good shape. but when I squeeze a bulk the fuel squirtes out of carb.

The model# 28402M, 1964 Evinrude. Is the fuel pump rebuildable?
if it is bad.
Thank you.

what would case a fuel pump to go bad like that? Just bought it this season.

It's the carb, and not the fuel pump. How fast did you hit bottom?

It isn't the pump, it's needle and seat not working or the float isn't set right.

I am confused I also took a carb apart yesterday and blew in it when it is right side up, It seems to block the air and upside down seem to blow into it easier. Why not working when is in the motor. har?

Shake the float and listen for sloshing, may have a hole in it or submerse the float in liquid and see if she floats.

What engine are we dealing with? What did the engine sound like after hitting bottom? A leaking carb may be the least of your worries.

If there is a vibration...that is probably more serious at this point than the fuel...which as someone suggested is likely coincidence....or an existing problem that you just noticed.
Check for a bent prop.

the motor is Evinrude 1964 28hp. this morning taking it local marina. he shows me to readjust floater. It works now.

Trying to get a new prop. he wants to put the techrometer on it to find out the RPM on motor at wot to find out what size of prop it needs. took it out ran great for a while, now it is hit and miss. also got bottom plug shorting out too. sounded like having intermittently spark on bottom cylander. he told me to take off flywheel, bringht him the mag plate for inspection.

what does that mean? I wonder. he said that way he has the whole system to check. he said may be something shorting out.

what are they looking for at the mag plate?
