I have a 1973 Holiday I believe it is. My steel fuel tank is getting rusty on the bottom where it is sitting on the carpet. I was wondering if it is possible to get a new one that would have all the same connections for the filler and vent in either steel or plastic. It is a 12 gallon. Just found this site. Have had the boat for about 6 years but haven't used it for about 4 years because of bad shift cable that just got fixed. Hope to get it in the water this weekend.

Wally world has the plastic tanks pretty cheap, you have to add the fittings to fit whatever motor you want

If you can pull the tank out, refinish the bottom with some rusoleum, or put a rubber mat under it.

Re: Fuel tank question

I would pull the tank and if the inside is in good shape and minimal rust on the outside I would coat the outside of the tank with a product called rust bullet. I used it on a trailer and liked the product. Much better protection than rattle can paint.

Re: Fuel tank question

Hello!

I am new to the community, and I just recently purchased a 18' 1987 Starcraft Mariner cc. It came with
two 6 gallon plastic gas cans. I am going to replace the floor eventually (soft spots), so my question is, what is the largest gas tank I could fit below the deck? Someone told me I might have to go custom (not sure how much that will cost, but probably a lot!), but I'm only looking to have around 20 gallons if possible. Any words of wisdom here? Any help is greatly appreciated!

mpm, this post is both a hijack and bringing up a dead thread. Both are no-no's as is asking the same question in multiple places. You already have a thread started on this subject. Closed.
