On my Wellcraft I have a 100 gallon aluminium fuel tank that has all the usual fittings/tubes, including filler, vent, engine fuel line, and sender, but it also has a "spare" outlet which is blanked off with a square headed plug. Is this fitting normally used for fuel to drain back into the tank or has it another purpose? It is located right next to the fuel pick up and I've used it to gain access to the lower bottom end of the tank when I had to pump out some water from the tank.
On that topic, is there any wisdom to fitting a drain tap to the lower end of the tank, to allow easier draining if needs be? I think a line attached to the drain and running out through the transom plug would make life easy in this respect. FWIW I have various filters and separators fitted. This is just a long term idea.
Thanks in advance.
