I just put in an inline filter , glass so as to view what was going through. I will put in a better fuel water seperater later. To my horror nasty bits of crud and moisture could be seen. My built in 80 gallon plastic tank has a bit of a low spot on the top where the sending unit bolts on. It still works but is quite corroded. It collects water around it because it has become a low spot on a large flat surface. I am thinking water may or probably is seeping in from the pool which collects there. A sending unit is only about $40.00. I am curious as to the small bolts which hold it in place will react when I try to take them out. If they break I am in trouble. Are there metal threads or what holding them into the plastic? This tank is in a 1996 Seaswirl Striper. Do plastic fuel tanks get polished? Or would a fuel water sperater and an inline filter be a safe way to go.Thanks for your replies.
