fuel tank

ok i got my project boat almost done and put the muffs on and fired it up.runs good sounds fine .but heres the question someone asked me if i checked the gas tank for water . i never even thought of it whats the chance there was water in there.I put stabilizer and 10 gallons of gas to test it and ran it twice for about 5 mins each.its a 110 gallon tank should i not worry about it will the fuel seperator save me. IDK the boat sat for about three years W/no engine and i assume the person before me drained the tank.the gauge doesn t work yet so thats not helping me either

Put a water separator filter on it....... I would be MORE concerned from crud in the tank from being dry for 3 yrs

I would really take a good look at what the inside of the tank looks like before you fill it up with almost 800 lbs of fuel. It will be much easier to take out and clean if needed now.

If it looks clean before you put 10 gallons in it and stabilizer, I wouldn't worry about it. anything you top off will dilute the water and your separator should take care of it.

Now if you have 20 gallons in the tank, 10 gas and 10 water, that's another story!

Is this a new fuel tank or old? Regardless, you should clean it out. Ethanol is bad enough to deal with water problems, let alone starting off with possible water contamination. Good Luck!

well i replaced the seperator before i ran the engine and the guy i bought the boat from said he pressure tested the tank and said it was in good condition.i can see it i have a 23' sea ray laguna center console and can lift the floor and visually it looked like it was in good condition
