Hello,

I have a 1993 rinker with a 4.3 mercruiser with alpha one outdrive im putting a F/W seperator on it and was wondering the seperator has 1/4" NPT written on box but I notice my fuel Line is 3/8" does this mater can I just get a 3/8" hose barb to do the job? Also this seperator goes on the hose between the fuel tank and fuel pump correct? I also am putting an inline fuel filter in I think this goes between fuel pump and carb. but between those two I have a metal line should I remove the metal line and put a rubber line or do this also go between the tank and fuel pump?

Thank for you help,

Ayuh,... Just get a 3/8" barb x 1/4" pipe fitting...

Yes,...

Nope,... Tha's what the cannister filter is for,...
In-line filters are pretty Useless on a boat...

Re: Fuel / Water seperator

thanks for the quick reply thats what I thought about the inline filter just everyone saying "I wouldn't take my boat out without the seperator and the inline filter" I can see the seperator but never really understood why to have both cause the F/W seperator is a filter also...

Thanks

Ayuh,... It's a Filter 1st,... A really Big Filter....
Being so Big, the velocity of the fuel slows, allowing the Water to fall out of suspension,...
Gravity is what pulls the Water out of the fuel,...That's why it lays in the bottom...

Those little In-line filters don't even have a Bottom for the water to settle in,...

Re: Fuel / Water seperator

Those inline filters require you cut the steel fuel line between the carb and fuel pump, which you should have. And that is not a good idea from a safety standpoint, and against ABYC and Coast guard policies.
