HI to all been along time since posts.....I hve a 35hp johnson seahorse 78 which has been running like a dream for 3 years straight with no issues. When i go fishing i am normally at full speed getting to my destination and during the journey i always here a banging noise coming from the prop thinking that i have hit a jelly fish...only happens every now and then assuming i hve hit a jelly,it pops in and out of gear perfectly with no issues at all...........Could this problem b hitting jelly fish or is it something to take note of.........CHEERS...:facepalm:

You could have a forward gear and shift dog starting to go. Either from normal wear or loose linkage probs. Check your g/c for any water.

Hi Boobie and thanks for the quick reply. This has been happening for 2 to 3 years now and the gearbox operates floorlessly with no probs at all other than that noise.I run semi synthetic oil in the box and just checked it while i was posting and it is still crystal clean...no shavings what so ever...If the dog was on its way out it would have gone by now,am i right....

How often do you use the mtr? One other option you have is take the prop into a prop shop and they can tell you if it's slipping but I don't think that's it.
