Fuse Size to Wire Size?

I am doing some rewiring on my boat and I need to know what size wire goes with what size fuse or vice versa. I am mostly doing lights, pumps and other small things.

I wouldn't put anything smaller than a #16 wire on small appliances and lights. Protect it with a 10 amp fuse. If you need higher capacity, go #14 with a 15 amp fuse, or #12 with a 20 amp fuse.

Howdy, Salty Dog.<br /><br />Schematic's advice is right on.<br /><br />One addition. How long the wire is. If you would use a #14 wire but it is over 6', go to #12. Over 12', go to #10. Use the same general rule for all sizes.<br /><br />Good luck.
