Hello all; I am a newbie. I have a near-cherry '84 18ft SS, bought from an estate. I looks like the boat, motor, and trailer was bought as a package. The motor is a 65hp Force(Chrysler ).

The problem: Some of the fuses have been replaced with copper slugs (!!!!), and the fuse block does not seem to have amperage markings. I hope you guys can help me with this.

PS: Are transom-drilling specifications standardized, or are more holes required when a motor is changed to anothe model? I have a feeling I'm not going to like the answer to this question...

Re: Fuses

i too expected to have to ditch the chrysler OB fast when i got my Holiday. been pleasantly surprised at condition and parts availability....Franz Marine is THE place for Chrysler/Farce parts and Franz knows em well.

no, you likely won't like the answer on the holes. but filling transom holes is apparently a tin SC rite of passage.

Re: Fuses

Welcome to iboats! Force engines are not necessarily bad, but if you do change chances are you will have to drill new holes.

Thanks guys! I'm going to try to keep the "Star," it has low hours. Current(no pun) problems are the fuses, hot starting, and shifter adj. Also trim cylinder won't hold position. I'm glad to hear about Frantz!
