I'm in the market for a new bass boat. Was thinking of a glass boat, but saw and tested the aluminum G3 HP200 with 200 VMax. Seems like a great boat at about 10k+ less than equivalent glass boats. I've searched the forums and find very little info. Googled and got the same. Anyone out there with experience on these boats. I'm just about sold and planning on picking one up next week unless I find something negative in the meantime. So far, I haven't found anything but good comments.

Thanks,

jb

Welcome to iboats. :)

Owned by Yamaha now, started by the Lowe's(?). Their third successful line of aluminum boats. I'd expect better than average quality, approaching premium quality. If speed is important, glass is faster.

Thanks. Speed's not that important, but I was impressed how fast this thing was with a 200. Quality seems top notch. Not alot of bells and whistles. Seems like it's just a fishing machine. It was windy when I tested it yesterday, but it did real well in some heavy chop. Suprisingly smooth ride.

jb

If Yamaha is your first choice, then may as well be the G3. For other motor flavors see Triton aluminum and War Eagle.

Kelly Cook

Re: G3 - any thoughts? any owners?

I saw a G3 for the first time the last time I went to the lake. It had 3 guys in it and a Yammie 60 hanging off it. I'd guess the length at 17'.

It moved out real nice with the 60 and if you were out to fish it seemed to be an adequate, good looking, good performing rig.

I was unable later to strike up a conversation with the occupants (as we passed while actually fishing) as I left the ramp's no wake zone markers at a dead gallop and blew them away.....little Merc 90 on a RiverTrail 17' B.B. which, now that I have installed my Ballistic 13 1/2 x 24, runs out at WOT at 52.....if that wets your whistle. Grin. Dunno what the G3 and 60 Yammie will do if it matters.

Also if you really are in for the get there fast.....and hang on; my boat is USCG rated for a 130 hp. Rivertrail builds the custom trailer for it too. They have a web address.

Mark

Thanks for all the info. The 200 seemed to push this thing as fast I would hope to go. Still leaning heavily toward it.

jb

I almost bought a G3 18' center console with a Yamaha 90 on the back. Nice boat, better built then my 10 yr old Lowe, would have been a nice fishing/utility boat.

I ended up buying a Trophy 1802 WA because they wifey wanted something bigger with a cabin.

Well I guess I missed another sale for RT boats, but what the heck. When someone is happy with their stuff they flaunt it and I am. Course I could just as well have been unhappy and criticizing it to kingdom come.

Mark

j,

Just like I said. If you are happy with your stuff you want others to be happy too. So if your stuff works for you supposedly it will work for others and you recommend it based upon your experiences.

I have no affiliation with the company whatsoever.

Mark

Well, I took the plunge and picked up an HP200 G3. Took it out this weekend and already love this thing. Look foward to getting back into the freshwater fishing scene which I've been out of for the last 14 years.

Happy boating,

jb
