I'm going to replace the water pump, and I'm wandering if there are any things to watch out for and if anyone might have any hints to make this job an easy one. :D

I have two sugjestions to make your time easier. But also wanted you to know, this is an easy job once you get the pump off. I have replaced them at anchor before, still mounted, at night, with a spotlight lighting the scene.Me and my light-holder (my son), were back underway in less than 10minutes..But then I had the routine down-pat by that point.
The first tip is, get the manual, and make sure you get the right impeller kit for your pump.
When you get the hose off the intake, run fresh water thru the intake to make sure it is not obstructed. This is esspecially important if this boat is slipped as opposed to trailered or dry-stored. Critters love intakes :(
Secondly, it pays to purchase a spare impeller and stow that puppy in the bilge just in case it fails undereway...Come to think about it, they rarely ever fail at the dock.
