Hi there,
I?m new to the forum and I?m from Austria, so please excuse my moderate English^^. I found an old Gale 35D13B #787640 in the garret of my father.
The outboarder wasn?t in use for about 15 years. After a few pulls the monster awakens. It looks like the combustion motor is in a healthy condition but i cannot switch the gears, i think i located the problem but it would be easier if someone had some blueprints for this engine.
Theres also a small little pipe made of metall which is crooked, its located near the crank (outside).
Thanks in advance,
Sleeve

Welcome to the iboats.com forum. The experts here, which I am not, can help you with any question about your boat, motor and trailer. Your English is fine but instead of "blueprints", how about a free service manual for that great old motor. It is not a factory manual but will get you started. Click on the link below to access an online public library.

http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=393281

Login as instructed and then drill down to the manual by clicking on: Small Engine Repair..., Marine/Boat Motors, Gale, 35HP(1956-1964) and finally, Condensed Service Data.

I used this same manual to perform my first complete overhaul of an outboard motor with a seized 1959 Johnson 35 which is identical to your motor. This manual was good enough that my motor started and ran on the first crank after re-assembly. If you are not able to access this manual for some reason, let me know and I may be able to get it to you via email.

I will try to post links for a parts catalog and wiring diagram asap. With the documentation, you should be able to provide a better description of the part that is causing you problems. Good luck!

The link below should be the correct wiring diagram for your motor:

I could not find a Gale Parts Catalog for your 1960 model but Johnson should be the same:

Re: Gale Buccanner 35HP

I thank you soooooo much!!!! That were exactly the things i was looking for, you are the best!:)

The small pipe must be the oil line assembly then... this sounds like "you better change this damn part before you try to wake the monster again" :(

And the second thing is the clevis of the shift rod, that must be broken.

Thank you very much for your fast reply!!!!

Re: Gale Buccanner 35HP

Glad the info in those links helped you! Hopefully, your motor was not run with a damaged or defective oil line because it carries lubricating oil from the lower crankshaft bearing to the upper crankshaft bearing and is critical to a having a healthy motor. Both the oil line and the clevis are still available as OMC/BRP parts with the original part numbers plus a leading zero. FYI, it appears the clevis is listed ($61.84USD) at ten times the price of the oil line ($6.18USD). Good luck!
