Re: Gallons Per Hour

I will add that this is the first season that I answer the question "hey hon, wanna got to the Sand Bar (or enter cool place of choice)?", with "OK, just so you know, that'll cost us $50" and she'll say, ""well I guess it's OK here when I think about it . . . " :D

Re: Gallons Per Hour

I recently upgraded from an 19ft w/ carbed 4.3L and an alpha one up to a 23ft w/ 350 MPI(fuel injected) and a bravo 3 duo prop behind it. I'll tell you right now if anything the 350 does better on fuel while tubing and skiing 30-40mph. But when i crank it up to 50-60+ it REALLY sucks the fuel. But for 75% of what I do it is more fuel efficient than my 4.3 was and has WAY more power.

Hope this helps. Let us know what you decide!!!!

Re: Gallons Per Hour

thank you every one. I have a 92 200hp yamaha 2 stroke and because it uses 20 gph at 4800 and 12 at 3300 I just cant enjoy boating as much. I am selling it locally and I want to just keep the libertor as it has a 305 and gets about 5 gph and cruising and i love the boat except the q jet i recently posted about but I resolved that today. So, I am selling both and getting either a 4.3 20' boat or a 3.0 18' boat depending on what the local market bears. Thank you all for your input I would like to get a 4.3 because from ym understanding the newer vortec models put out 220 and we like to do water sports. So the horse power gain and lower rpms as opposed to the high reving of the 3.0 may save money over time. And who doesnt like to blow it out and make all 220 horses scream sometimes?

30 best case usually 26. Maybe my outboard just sucks. But I will go fishing a 6 mile trip rountrip and use 7 gallons of gas and that is easing it on plane and off and crusing at about 3300-3800. So

Got the 305 in a 2600 lbs boat. Ran for about 4 hours and used 12 gallons. Loving life.

The 4.3 in my '69 SRV190 burtns about 3 GPH average.
I have a neighbor that just repowered his 20' Mako with a 150 Yammy OB - he's burning less than 2 gph average.

You can get tons of free data from BoatTest. I haven't paid a thin dime, and have had access to everything but their archived data. Not sure how they charged you, but they haven't charged me . . .

There's a charge if you want access to the ARCHIVED tests. I think the free ones only stay available for a couple of months before they are replaced with newer ones.

As QC says, I've been using them for a long time and all I ever gave them was a B.S. freebie email address I use for anything that may spam me. Same one I used for Iboats. :)

I'd like to get in on the deal if they can figure out some way to get $50 out of that!

Must be some new additive in the gas that's allowing that great fuel consumption. I've noticed that my 425 HP 8.1L has averaged much less than 1 GPH over the past couple of weeks.

Yeah, I wasn't impressed with the fact that they tell you that you have to pay AFTER you've signed up.

Re: Gallons Per Hour

LMAO!! - know what you mean QC! Between being out of town for work a couple of weeks ago and hurricane Gustav coming through here last weekend, my average GPH is looking great!!!

Hope to get out in an hour or so for an evening on the water to try to put a hurt on that average GPH. Just picked up a new tow vehicle I'd like to check out. There's a steep ramp on the river with a pea gravel parking lot that the boat would drag the Cherokee down with all 4 tires locked up till the boat floated off the trailer. Once I committed to launch there was no turning back. Kept expecting to read about myself in "Stupid Human Tricks". Made for lots of interested onlookers!!

Picked up a 99 4WD 3/4 ton Suburban for $3000. Looks like new. Gonna see if the boat can drag it down the ramp! Kid's call it the "bus". It's about the size of one.

Picturing your previous ramp scene has me LMAO :D . . . We totally blew off Labor Day which bummed me out. I need to get something better for saltwater one of these days. My boat's 260 miles away right now. That's where we typically boat, so it's a good thing, but I can launch on the Pacific 35 miles from here . . .

Re: Gallons Per Hour

We went boating last Friday and decided to blow off the rest of Labor Day weekend. Friday, the water was absolute glass. Easily the best water I've ever boarded on.

We went again yesterday, and it was miserable. We got about 1.5 hrs of decent water in the morning while it was still cold. But after that, it got too choppy to even tube!
